100% Cabernet Franc from Auten and Barrow Vineyards – vines from the hillside Barrow Vineyard off of Seneca Lake are approximately nine years old, the older vines at Auten were planted in the late 1990’s. The hand-harvested grapes are partially de-stemmed, crushed and fermented with whole clusters added back in open top fermenters over a three week period. The wine is matured for two years in neutral oak before bottling, unfined and unfiltered. Deep ruby in color, Bloomer Creek Cabernet Franc opens with aromas of ripe black cherry, blackcurrant, and subtle hints of black pepper and earth. On the palate, it is medium-bodied, showcasing flavors of dark fruit complemented by vanilla and oak, with firm yet smooth tannins and balanced acidity. The finish is lingering, with notes of dark fruit and spice that leave a clean, refreshing impression.
